Product Description JULIA ROBERTS STARS AS A WRONGED WIFE WHOSE REACTION TO HUSBAND DENNIS QUAID'S INFIDELITY SENDS HER FAMILY AND SOCIAL CIRCLE SPINNING. SPECIAL FEATURES: THEATRICAL TRAILER, AND ALL-NEW DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 REMIX. SUBTITLES IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH.
Amazon.com essential video This well-intentioned but strangely cold tale concerns an emotionally repressed Southern belle (Julia Roberts) who separates from her husband (Dennis Quaid) after discovering he is an unabashed philanderer. Pressed by her dominating father (Robert Duvall) into reconciling with her spouse, Roberts's character chafes against so much male control over her destiny. Defended by a fiercely independent sister (a catchy performance by Kyra Sedgwick), the heroine develops the nerve to plot her own course in life while her mother (Gena Rowlands) finds the gumption to throw her own mate out of the house. The script by Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise) is intelligent but hardly clear, and direction by Lasse Hallström (Once Around) can't keep Khouri's unfocused scenes and uncertain purpose from dissolving like sand castles in the rain. --Tom Keogh

| Customer Reviews: Something to Talk About April 26, 2010 Adrienne Kennedy Too much gratuitous, totally unnecessary profanity for me. The movie has a nice family story which would far better have been served without all the profanity, which is typical of movies now. It's much better to view it on cable, where they cut out most of the profanity. I will be passing on this DVD.
Something to Talk About March 24, 2010 Ronald W. Wagner (Minnesota USA) I love this movie. Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid are both such great actors and would recommend it to anyone that love these actors.
favorite March 4, 2010 Donna A. Friedlander (NJ) this has always been one of my favorite moves so when I checked the price and saw that the movie was very affordable, I couldn't afford not to purchase it.
a marriage on the rocks May 24, 2009 R. Bagula (Lakeside, Ca United States) I'm a real Kyra Sedgwick fan, but this movie really doesn't do any of the actors a good turn. The plot is kind of silly about a rich girl's marriage to of all things a banker
while they are training horses for a riding show.
Just a pretty strange movie where father certainly doesn't know best.I think Randy Quad could have done as good as Dennis Quaid in this role
and might have been more believable?
Love this movie April 15, 2009 S. Miller What a great movie. It's funny, it's sad, and it has a little bit of everything in it. I've been looking for it in the stores, but since it's been out for a while, it's hard to find. I'm so glad Amazon had it. Thanks!
