I'm not a big country music fan and I don't own any, with the exception of this CD. Chely Wright is a very talented songwriter with a lovely voice and the songs on this album are truly inspired. This sort of honest, heartfelt effort is rare in the music industry today so when I heard about it, I took the chance that I would not be disappointed and bought the album. I'm so glad I did. The production values are minimal so they don't overwhelm, but enhance the songs, all of which are melodic, catchy and sometimes funny! The music is great as are the musicians. I'm not sure I would call it classic country but more country/folk. From what little I know about Chely's other albums, this one is a big departure from her earlier efforts. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You will not be sorry!

This is an intimate look right into Chely Wright's head and heart. As I listen to this CD I can just feel her emotions as if they were happening live....it's that raw. She has always been an incredible artist, but this project took her to a different level. I look forward to her future projects where she really feels like she can lay it all on the line. I only wish that she could get more exposure from country music radio. Sad that they can't overlook their prejudices and just recognize how incredible the music is on this CD.

For me, the mark of a special recording is not only my reaction to the music the first time I listen, but whether or not the music draws me in to listen again and again. And whether or not I hear or feel something different each time.
Chely's music is easy listening. You can sing along to her songs, relax to them, and feel an emotional connection to the story relayed.
I enjoy the recordings.. finding some songs 'haunting'in melodic line, some interesting in lyric design, and some specific to describing the mood I'm in or where I've been.
Chely's music is authentic...It strikes a 'real chord' in my heart.
She's a cross between country and blues, and has a ballad/folk quality
that reminds me of Judy Collins and Joan Baez. Most of the songs are
laid back and reflective. If you are unfamiliar with her music, as I
was, I think you will enjoy the sounds she presents to your ear.I'm happy with this purchase.

If you havent purchased this Cd/DVD combo what are you waiting for? Not only do you get the Amazing CD which has AMAZING songs on it but you get a DVD with a peek behind the scenes with Chely and her friends.
