Product Description
Marly's love for Cade has spanned her teenage years, and survived strong and intact into womanhood. Her fantasies and daydreams have sustained her, but she's no longer content with merely imagining the touch of his hands, the taste of his kiss. It's time to seduce the tough, sexy cowboy. She's heard the rumors for years, the tales of his sexual preferences. She's prepared herself to accept his desires. Prepared her body for his touch. But she wasn't prepared for the choice to come... Cade's dark desires, his sexual excesses are based in the past. In a time when pain, shame, and blood stains his very soul. He carries a secret shared only with his brothers. A secret that has scarred the bond, the ability to be a brother or to accept the love of the men he was raised with. He knows the only way to prove his loyalty, his love for those brothers and Marly will be the key. She has a choice. She can surrender to Cade's needs, his soul deep desires, or she can walk away. A choice only Marly can make. A choice that will change her life forever.

But I just don't LIKE this series and I won't be reading any further. I didn't even FINISH this book. The sex was NUCLEAR in hotness, but the storyline made it nasty, dirty, and downright tawdry. I couldn't get into it.

I've got nothing against menage or erotica (hello? I BOUGHT the book right?) but the "If you love me you'll do my brothers and me too" and the "NEVER TELL ME NO! I'll BRUTALLY RAPE YOU if you do!!!" Stuff is just WRONG WRONG WRONG.

And she finally comes to the point where sharing herself with all three is HOT and not that disturbing and what does the author do? "If you LOVE ME you'll have sex with this WOMAN"

At that point I was so DONE. And these boys had some seriously serious psychological problems. They were brutally raped as children by their dad and FORCED TO LIKE IT. Instead of dealing with the trauma of abuse? They allow that trauma to be the reasoning behind their boorish, mean, evil, and downright ILLEGAL behavior towards women.

Not hot. SO not hot.

Please. If you, like me, look for a little "reality" with your fantasy? DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!!!

But if you can take it? If you can separate reality from fantasy? Then you'll LOVE this series.

My problem is: I went to all the trouble to READ the damn reviews and then IGNORED them. HOW SMART WAS THAT?

This was my very first erotica/Lora Leigh experience. (Yeah. I'm bold. I went for the 3-on-1, kinda incest-y one.) And, I'm more than a little grossed out. The sex doesn't bother me. Even the quasi-kinky stuff. The you're-kinda-my-sister-but-not-really stuff doesn't bother me either. I can get my head around that. It's the circumstances surrounding the sex, the weak plots, and the thinner-than-a-cheese-cloth characterization that make me shift into skim mode. Oh, and let's not forget all the TELLING. My nana could probably write a better novel.

Marley went to live with Cade and his two brothers when she was just a kid to escape her sexually abusive step-father. They basically raised her. On almost the very day she turned 18, Cade developed a voracious appetite for her "sex." (Yeah, eww.) What grosses me out is this: this man who supposedly "loves" her is hell-bent on abusing and humiliating her. I want to know if there are women who really find this romantic? At one point, he calls her a very ugly name just after a less than sanitary moment in the barn. I definitely would have channeled Nicole Kidman a la Far and Away and grabbed the nearest pitch fork.

It's entirely possible that I have a very different picture of romance than most readers. But I can enjoy a good bad boy story. Hell, I married a bad boy. But in my mind, the romantic part is when the bad boy discovers a new part of himself when he meets a certain woman. And maybe she does to (enter kinky sex stuff if that's your cup of tea.) None of these characters are transformed. Marley merely does what she has to do to keep Cade's attention. It would be more interesting if he wanted to be with her no matter what, and then she "chose" to fulfill his bizarre sexual leanings. But that's not the case. So...I'm wondering where the choice part comes in?

What is the facination with brothers sharing one woman? It seems to be a popular theme in erotica which I find amusing as I cannot take such affairs seriously and I guess neither do the writers of such inordinate situations. It tends to spoil the reading however, as I can't be swept away as in this case I kept one eyebrow raised in disbelief right through the book. You see the brothers need to share the same woman for purely therapeutic reasons. But let me be more speecific.

Cade, Brock and Sam are brothers who had a very traumatic upbringing by a fiendish father who abused them. Even as grown ups they suffer the consequences of this ill treatment but do not seek conselling or psychoanalysis but find their own strange cure; they need to share the same woman sexually! No, Irvin Yalom does not recommend it as far as I know and I would suspect that such unorthodox methods would 'screw people up' (pardon the pun) even more

Marley is a young woman who has also suffered in the hands of an abusive guardian. Her stepfather was very violent and also looked at his stepdaughter with leer in his eye, so the mother, very wisely(!) leaves her on the ranch with the brothers and disappears never to return. Now don't jump to conclusions. She was really a loving, caring mother who had her daughter's best interest at heart. And I thought that there was welfare in the well to do nations of the world. She grows up in an affluent environment, goes to college but gradually begins to realize that she is attracted to Cade who was a bit of the father figure for her. She ran to him whenever she was in trouble and he was always tender and protective. He comforted her through her recurrent nightmares. He would brush her hair, even at the age of eighteen. (Freud would havea field day with this)

She returns from college during the break determined not to allow Cade to have any doubts as to how she feels about him. Cade however, is a granite block of determination and resolution, not permitting his baser feelings for the girl he practically raised, to get the better of him. Well, that is until jealousy raises its ugly head and he thinks that someone else may get to his little girl first and demonstrate the facts about the birds and the bees. His hesitations are also due to his reluctance to expose innocent, little Marley to the darker aspects of his and his brothers' sexual appetites. Marley, on the other hand , has done some homework and found out what the boys enjoy and is willing to try all the sexual variations. Or so she claims but when faced with reality she changes her tune like a whining little girl.

To add some spice to the story, there is someone stalking Marley who is also a voyeur so the couple stage a rather fascinating show for him. It was also meant to add some suspense, but personally, I am heartily sick of all these women being chased by sickos. Every other book has one of those damsels in distress in need of protection by a strong dominant, no nonesense guy.(Yawn)

What did I enjoy about the book? The sex is intense as Cade tries hard to resist but can't and I am a sucker for heroes who have such internal conficts. As for the sharing part, as I said, I looked at the humorous side of the issue, as I do with all those warewolf|vampire tales, otherwise it would sound like something awfully sick.
